One of the really fun things about taking photographs is getting to see the families I work with grow. I have been photographing Melissa and Michael since they were engaged to be married, through their wedding day, to now as they expect their first child. Sweet Baby Elliot will join their family later this fall. These two lovely people are going to be such great parents and I can’t wait to meet little Baby Ellie.
Oh, Kaitlyn… she is such a sweetheart. She is such a smiley, happy little girl. And those cheeks! I could just eat them. I got to capture Kaitlyn (and her big brother Jonathan) as she turned five months old. I hope I get to see much more of this sweet little family.
I had the pleasure of photographing Katie and John in Indianapolis this summer. These two own a Jimmy John’s store in Indy and wanted to include it in their engagement session – which was awesome. The sandwich makers even played along for a few fun ideas. And, as a special bonus, their dog Riley joined us for a few shots, too. I can’t wait for Katie and John’s wedding next year!
When Brett contacted me about photographing his marriage proposal to Hannah my heart melted. What girl wouldn’t want to have one of the most special moments in her life documented? Especially one that is hardly ever captured. When he said he planned to pop the question at the Arboretum I was so excited. Having been married there just three years earlier, it’s a spot near and dear to me.
I helped Brett pick the perfect spot to get down on one knee and made our plan of attack for surprising Hannah and making sure she didn’t see me. They walked hand in hand down the sidewalk on one of the sunniest days we’ve had in a while. They took a quick right down the path of trees where I was waiting. I could tell that Hannah was trying to get Brett to go into the gardens, but he didn’t veer from the plan.
As they entered the perfect spot between the rows of trees, Brett pulled Hannah in close. From my vantage point it looked like he whispered sweet nothings into her ear just before getting down onto one knee and pulling out the ring. In a few quick seconds it was all over. Tears, smiles, and she said yes.
What a beautiful couple and such a sweet moment. I feel so lucky to have been able to capture it for Hannah and Brett. Congratulations, you two! (Oh yeah, and check out Hannah’s tattoo. Pretty much sums it up.:)
